Welcome Webelos and Parents |

We hope you enjoyed the Webelos Woods Activities in spite of the damp ground and threat of rain. You have just sampled a taste of the next step in your Scouting Adventure. Many Troops were represented and each one presented you with some aspect of Scouting. We hope it was informative and fun!! Let me take a minute to give you a little more information about Troop 1020. We are a "Boy Led" Troop under the guidance of many enthusiastic and dedicated BSA trained leaders. We are a young Troop, only in our third year, and our Sponsoring organization is Pilgrim Lutheran Church in the Meyerland area. We meet weekly on Tuesdays at 7:30-9:00. Currently there are 28 active Scouts and two of those will be earning their Eagle rank this year. Our Troop is divided into four Patrols grouped primarily by age. I think that you will find that our Scouts do live and practice the Scout Oath and Law. As with most Boy Scout Troops one of our main activities is camping. We have an outing once a month. Our Scouts also attend a Summer and Winter camp every year. Last year's summer camp was at El Rancho Cima in west Texas. We are currently planning a high adventure outing for our older Scouts and a mini high adventure outing that will also include the younger Scouts. There are some costs involved with Scouting, but our Troop tries to keep costs at a minimum. We do require the BSA uniforms (which is not new to you if you are already a Webelo). Troop dues are only $25 every six months. However, we have a "pay as you go" policy in which campouts and outings are paid for at the time of the event. The typical campout will cost each Scout $20 ($10 camp fee and $10 for food). Last year's summer camp cost the Scouts $165. Of course the high adventure outing costs will be more depending on the location. We welcome you to come and visit our Troop meetings either as an individual or with your Webelos Patrol.
